N. Prasad Puttagunta

Vice President, Project Management, Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada Corporation (Canada) 

N. Prasad Puttagunta is the Vice President of Project Management for the newly formed Asahi Kasei Battery Separator Canada Corporation, a subsidiary of the Asahi Kasei Group, a diversified group of companies operating in the material, homes, and health care business sectors. 

​

Since 2012, Asahi Kasei has significantly expanded its presence in North America, investing roughly C$11 billion through expansions and acquisitions and has increased its employee base by a factor of 20, with more than 11,000 North American employees today. 

​

In his current role, Mr. Puttagunta is responsible for the overall execution of an expansion project to construct a new battery  separator manufacturing facility in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada. This project will be the first fully integrated plant producing this critical lithium-ion battery component in North America and will create hundreds of Canadian jobs when commercial operations  commence  in 2029.

Mr. Puttagunta brings extensive experience from his 20 years with the Asahi Kasei Group, having previously held leadership roles in Asahi Kasei’s plastics business as well as other corporate  functions,  including global supply chain, and manufacturing. Prior to  joining Asahi Kasei, Mr. Puttagunta worked for The Dow Chemical  Company for 20 years. Throughout his career, Mr. Puttagunta has worked in many regions of the world, including China,  Japan,  Singapore, India, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, and various states in the U.S.

Mr. Puttagunta hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and a Business Certificate of Management Excellence in Strategic Negotiations from Harvard University in Boston, Massachusetts, United States.
