Vinícius Mendes Ferreira

Senior Executive, Mining and Metals Executive  (Indonesia)  

Vinícius is a senior executive with more than 30 years of international experience in the mining and metals industry. He is renowned for leading complex industrial operations and delivering tangible results in efficiency, cost reduction, and profitability.

He has held multiple executive and C-level positions across Vale’s global operations, managing complex businesses in  iron  ore,  nickel, copper, and manganese in Brazil, China, and Indonesia.

Over his seven years in Indonesia, he served as Chief Operating Officer and KTT, leading more than 9,000 workers and managing direct engagement with government authorities, unions, and suppliers — building deep familiarity with Indonesia’s industrial and cultural environment.

Most recently, he served as Chief Projects Officer, where he led multi-billion-dollar industrial projects and established strategic joint ventures with global partners.

He combines technical mastery with decisive leadership, extensive experience in steelmaking, smelting, and industrial transformation, and a proven record of joint-venture structuring and engineering innovation. He is widely respected for driving execution discipline and delivering sustainable operational performance.
